It's in very rough shape. I bought it thinking about restoring it, but
I don't know of any good paint shop to work with.

Any recommendations (specially if you've taken your car there) would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

It's not Porsche-specific, but RJ&G on Hillsborough Road, between Raleigh
and Cary, has done *excellent* bodywork for me. They weren't
lightning-fast but the work was really top-notch. I don't know about
bodywork--that was paid for by insurance--but my regular car care and
repairs all go to RJ&G also, and their prices for that are very
reasonable, and they've always been honest, too. I've always been very
pleased with them. FWIW.

There is a great paint shop right down the street from RJ&G
on Germantown Road. Can't think of the name.

Also, years ago I had a double deer damage repaired in Holly
Springs. They were top notch. On the right going into town
before the stop light. :) Can't think of the name.

Call Jerry at "Metric Motors" on South Saunders. He's restored a few
Porsches for his own use. He's a whip smart mechanic, and super honest.
He'll have the info you need.

You are probably thinking of Kenny Hawkins. From the looks of the
pictures on the walls and the cars Kenny drives he's a Porshe
enthusiast. I've had them fix two cars and paint some motorcycle
parts for me.

I also used them back in 95. They restored the body/paint of a VW golf
from a wreck I had. They did a beautiful job back then, and assume they
still do.

Unfortunately we found out later the wreck did much much more than great
body repairs and a great paint job could fix.

I'ld use them again for paint body work.

If it's a 911, 930 or 928, I'd recommend Tony Mangum in Coats, NC. He
will strip the car to the bare metal, take care of any dents & rust,
then refinish it to a standard better than factory. He is well known
for painting exotics and customs. For a 944, I'd find someone cheaper!
